iPIPS is the new International Performance Indicators in Primary Schools project looking at what children know and what they can do when they start school and one year later. It is a unique international monitoring system and is being developed by the Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring (CEM), University of Durham, UK. The PIPS assessments on which iPIPS based has been proven to provide highly robust and accurate baseline data over the past 20 years in the UK and a number of other countries.
iPIPS offers research-based data on children’s social and cognitive development as they start school and on their progress during their first year, providing accurate benchmarks across countries that will help policymakers evaluate and reform their early education policy and practices. Moreover, the assessment instrument can be used for pedagogical purposes.
